Jer Camarata

Mr. Camarata holds Bachelor and Master of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning degrees, graduating with honors. His focus is regional resource planning, land use, GIS, site engineering, and public finance.

He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in Oregon's water and hydropower industry, serving as General Manager of both Swalley Irrigation District in Bend and Farmers Irrigation District in Hood River. In these roles, he has been responsible for management of large-scale irrigation and hydropower infrastructure, organizational leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, capital improvement programs, policy implementation, water law, and complex contract negotiations.

Before entering public service, Mr. Camarata spent a decade in the geospatial technology industry, working in the United States and internationally, including Germany, Sweden, and Denmark.

Since joining Swalley in 2016, he has served as the District's executive officer, overseeing field and administrative operations, managing budgets, leading strategic initiatives, directing major capital projects, and implementing Board policy while ensuring compliance with Oregon water law.

Mr. Camarata serves as Board Secretary for both Swalley Irrigation District and the Deschutes Basin Board of Control. He is also active with the Oregon Water Resources Congress and several renewable energy coalitions.
