Board of Directors

Our District is governed by a three person Board of Directors (the Board). Board positions are staggered, three year terms. Directors may serve multiple terms if re-elected. Directors set overarching policy, approve annual assessments, and work with management to establish strategy for the long-term financial health of the District. Directors take fiscal responsibility for the District at-large, strategize on and approve the annual budgets, and authorize indebtedness for short and long term economic viability. The Board is the District's ultimate authority for establishing water law and policies within the District. The Board, however, is not involved with day-to-day operational business matters. The Board employs a general manager and executive officer who fulfills that role --  whom in turn hires and charges staff with everyday duties, responsibilities, goals, and accountabilities aligned with the District's mission, policies, and Oregon's water laws.

Serving on the Board is a serious commitment that takes time and dedication -- with very little compensation ($50/mtg). It's recommended that those interested in running for the Board meet staff and management, and then attend several meetings in order to learn about the legal requirements, responsibilities, and business operations of the District. If you care about our irrigation and agricultural community, this is community service at the highest level!
