Information about Board of Director Elections will be posted to this page.

We have a three member, At-Large Board. Each position comes with a three year term unless we have an early position vacancy. Terms are staggered such that we hold an election every year. Nomination Petition Form availability and timelines are publically announced per Oregon Revised Statute guidelines, and as a courtesy, information is also posted to this website. There is no limit on how many terms a board member may serve. Being on the Board is a serious commitment and it's recommended that those interested in running for the Board attend and participate in several board meetings to learn about the legal requirements, business operations, and affairs of the District.

Election Year Cycle Status:

Swalley Irrigation District is holding a vote-by-mail election November 12, 2024. Director Position #3, a 3-year term (2025-2027), currently an occupied at-large position, will be open for election. Candidates must file a complete Nomination Petition form that contains at least ten bonafide water right holder signatures no later than October 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the SID office in order to be on the ballot. Petitions are currently available for pick up at SID’s office.

As of the October 10, 2023 deadline for filing election petitions, Donald Reese was the sole candidate to file a valid petition for Position #2. Donald Reese was therefore certified by the Board's Secretary on October 11th, 2023, to serve as Director of Position #2 for a three-year term to be served from January 2024 through December 2026. The 2023 election cycle is closed.
